Kentuckians get together to hold a 'coronavirus party' -- and it works

Published 60 mins ago on March 24, 2020
By Matthew Chapman

The number of coronavirus cases in Kentucky has now jumped to 163, with 39 new cases on Tuesday.

And according to the Courier-Journal, not all of these cases may have been accidental — Gov. Andy Beshear (D-KY) is announcing that at least one of the cases is linked to a “coronavirus party” in which people gathered together to deliberately spread the disease amongst themselves.

It is unclear why, exactly, anyone would want to deliberately infect themselves at a “coronavirus party.” But regardless of the reason, it worked.

The Creation Museum and that stupid Ark park. It’s not terribly far down from there to coronavirus parties.

14. I've often said that Trump's presidential library should be placed opposite the Creation Museum.

That seems like the right place for it, assuming it isn't located in Moscow.

The people who go to that place would relish the opportunity to visit Trump's library at the same time.

It’s called “bug-chasing”, and it’s just one more piece of evidence that we are a species that has some serious mental illness issues.

"The Marching Morons" is a science fiction story by American writer Cyril M. Kornbluth, originally published in Galaxy in April 1951. It was included in The Science Fiction Hall of Fame, Volume Two after being voted one of the best novellas up to 1965.

The story follows John Barlow, who was put into suspended animation by a freak accident involving a dental drill and anesthesia. Barlow is revived hundreds of years in the future. The world seems mad to Barlow until he discovers the 'Problem of Population': due to a combination of intelligent people not having children and excessive breeding by less intelligent people and coupled with the development of more sophisticated machinery that makes it less important to possess intelligence in one's working life (see Fertility and intelligence), the world is full of morons, with the exception of an elite few who work slavishly to keep order. Barlow, who was a shrewd real estate con man in his day, has a solution to sell to the elite, in exchange for being made World Dictator.

The entire story can be read here: http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/51233

SPOILER - They "sold" the morons on the idea of moving to Venus - while not having rockets capable of going there.

You spend 2-3 weeks in isolation, and then, if you don't have complications, you're well and have antibodies and don't have to worry about catching the thing or giving it to others.

Certainly beats the paranoid limbo the rest of us are stuck in.
