Trump, in Tweet, Says He's Considering Plan that Would Kill a Lot of People

Epidemiologists are asking the public to “flatten the curve” of coronavirus infections by observing “social distancing.” It’s unclear how long we’ll have to do that — particularly absent a vaccine — and that’s both a bummer and a drag on the economy, as people miss out on human connections and businesses get shuttered en masse. But it seems like a bit less of a bummer when you put into plain language what “flattening the curve” by “social distancing” means in plain English: STAY THE FUCK HOME SO PEOPLE DON’T HAVE TO DIE IN THE STREET BECAUSE HOSPITALS GET TOO FLOODED WITH SICK PEOPLE TO HELP THEM.

In that light, dealing with even a lot of economic and personal pain seems worth it, especially with an estimated 2.2 million American lives at stake.

Except, maybe, if you’re President Trump and the jesters who sing for him on Fox News.

The president all-caps tweeted on Sunday night, “WE CANNOT LET THE CURE BE WORSE THAN THE PROBLEM ITSELF. AT THE END OF THE 15 DAY PERIOD, WE WILL MAKE A DECISION AS TO WHICH WAY WE WANT TO GO!” And CNN’s Nick Valencia reported that Trump is “laying groundwork to ease restrictions” and the CDC is looking for a way for businesses to reopen in the beginning of April.

hasn't locked down a single town, much less state, and he can neither reopen them or keep more actions from being taken. This is just narcissistic whackjob noise.

Those are all being done at state and local levels in the vacuum of national leadership that should have begun concerted actions over three months ago.

Not that he can't cause further harm in other ways. Most Republican leaders have been trying to limit and delay action as much as possible, and both Trump's inaction and dwindling but not gone electoral support will buy them more time for delay.

But sociopathic types like Senators McConnell and Burr, FL Gov. DeSantis, and the rest of their ilk, have almost run the course on that. They'd still be claiming it was nothing but an ordinary cold used as a Democratic conspiracy to damage Trump when bodies were being carried out to the streets for pickup if they could get away with it.

But they can't.

"Close to 50 Perdue Chicken employees who walked out Monday morning say some workers on the production line were in contact with people who tested positive for COVID-19. ... We're not getting nothing -- no type of compensation, no nothing, not even no cleanliness, no extra pay -- no nothing. We're up here risking our life for chicken."

Georgia Senator David Perdue's months of reassurance have clearly ended there, anyway. Of course, they've already accomplished what must have been intended.
