Pelosi: When they came out with their bill, it was trickle down. Our bill is bubble up.

.@SpeakerPelosi on the stimulus bills: "When they came out with their bill, it was trickle down. Our bill is bubble up. And I think we're finding a place where there's a recognition that we have to take care of our workers if our economy is going to survive." #AMRstaff

Money given to people in need is spent, and becomes profit for someone else.

People on the right, and Randites in particular, are so enamored of the idea there are deserving and undeserving poor, and that nothing whatever should go to the latter, that they miss the evident fact that food stamps are a subsidy to people who own grocery stores, rent assistance is a subsidy to landlords, and all cash assistance to people in poverty is a subsidy to the stores where they buy clothing and furniture and other practical necessities of life.

We are plagued by the Right's allegiance to Calvinistic thought, and have been since the early days of our American society. I blame Jonathan Edwards.

Calvin is a gift to the Devil who keeps on giving.

By comparison even Luther seems a sensible fellow.

Anyone who understands economics knows this is the proper course, and one which gives greater return for monies dispersed.

these kinds of comments are not helpful. They promote animosity and should be self-censored. Shut your mouth, get the bill signed then you can extol the virtues of said bill and troll the Thugs.
