Texas' lieutenant governor says US should get 'back to work'

Texas' lieutenant governor said Monday night that the U.S. should get back to work in the face of the global pandemic and that people over the age of 70, who the Centers for Disease Control says are at higher risk for the coronavirus, will “take care of ourselves.”

Republican Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick made the comments while appearing on Fox News' “Tucker Carlson Tonight.” Patrick, 69, went on the program after President Donald Trump said earlier Monday that he wanted the country getting back to business in weeks, not months. "Let's get back to work. Let’s get back to living. Let’s be smart about it,” Patrick said. “And those of us who are 70 plus, we’ll take care of ourselves. But don’t sacrifice the country.”

Health experts have made clear that unless Americans continue to dramatically limit social interaction — staying home from work and isolating themselves — the number of infections will overwhelm the health care system, as it has in parts of Italy, leading to many more deaths. While the worst outbreaks are concentrated in certain parts of the country, such as New York, experts warn that the highly infectious disease is certain to spread.

Patrick is a firebrand conservative and former talk radio show host who was elected to office in 2014. He was the Texas chairman of Trump's presidential campaign in 2016 and has pushed the Texas Senate that he oversees further to the right.

Why am I not surprised?
There has NEVER been a group of people in hat has lacked any sort of accountability like conservative talk show hosts. There is no bottom in that field of “work”.

put on hospital duty, cleaning the bedpans of all of our sick CV patients and see what our medical folks are going through. These people are clearly more interested in money, and nothing else. What vultures, what animals...did they ever happen to think that a sick person doesn't go out shopping or the like? They're sick.

Gross and talk about indecent human behavior.

As these latest remarks confirm, the only God that Dan "Patrick" (actual last name: Goeb) truly worships is money. Even by low Right Wing Piece Of Shit standards, he's awful.

vaccine on him, he probably doesn't believe in it (the vaccine, if and when available).

If he gets sick, he'll insist his beliefs will cure and save him. Okay. That's his right. I'm sure that he doesn't believe in technology (but I bet he drives or flies!) or vaccines.

That's more vaccine available to save some other more worthy person, say that down on his luck person on the street corner, seeking alms (putting the vaccine to better use).

Dan Patrick (age 70) has always been a far right-wing piece of shit. ALWAYS.

If he's so damn anxious to perk up the financial well-being of his 5 grandkids, let's see him walk into the emergency room of the closest hospital and help out an exhausted health care provider, up against COVID-19. I'm willing to bet my life that such a possibility has never crossed whatever passes for his conscience---not enough money in it.

the hospital or other medical facility, and 'get to work' instead of flapping his stupid jaw. Hot air doesn't do anyone any good.
