The HMO where I've been employed for the last 5-1/2 years closed 21 of its clinics in order to streamline the process for COVID. One minute we are getting word from management telling us to remember we are considered "essential" and the next minute we hear they don't know where to put all of us. I sat around a speciality floor today with another employee and we did not check in one patient. All the speciality appnts had been cancelled/rescheduled. I will probably be triaging tomorrow at least part of the day. The union is working on it. I guess I'll know more tomorrow. It's nerve-racking.

Everyday doctors are, of necessity, limiting nonessential in-office appointments. As they should.

They say "Business as Usual" so people don't jump ship or start looking for a job.
Then, when the minimum lead-time to announce a furlough or firing, they'll drop that hammer.
