The death toll from an outbreak of coronavirus in Italy has leapt by 793 to 4,825, officials have said.
The 19.6% increase is by far the largest daily rise in absolute terms since the contagion emerged a month ago.

three other family members in critical condition - big Italian family. Could there be a genetic reason?

a genetic-susceptibility reason why so many members of one family are wiped out.

because they are more community centered, such as coffee places, cafes, etc., all within small geographic areas, so the neighborhood all gather together to talk, chat, etc.. I did read that there is a lot of families in Italy that have multiple generations living under the same roof, perhaps this too, is a cause of the spread of CV.

In the US, we are fairly well spread out for the most part (large suburbs), and in a lot of cities such as KCMO, STLMO, etc., a lot of the older infrastructure, a lot of older homes, etc. were torn down, and spacing actually was created in a lot of these cities due to the flight to the suburbs.

So there is more spacing in these cities too. However, this probably isn't true for a lot of immigrant communities within these same cities (immigrant families still live together), so I suspect we'll see more CV cases here in these areas. My guess here.

In some larger cities, like NYC, LA, etc.,and others, where urban areas are still pretty concentrated, there have more concentrations of populations thus more outbreaks. A guess here too.

Be safe.
