President Donald Trumps directive for governors to buy their own medical supplies to fight the coronavirus has run into a big problem -- the federal government.
Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker told Trump during a video conference on Thursday that his state three times lost out to the federal government on purchases of critical supplies, creating an awkward moment during the made-for-TV event at Federal Emergency Management Agency headquarters in Washington.

(182,868 posts)Which is a specific kind of procurement. Usually it's buying something at a big box store with a government (state) credit card. A given Lowe's or Walmart just isn't going to have pallets of ______ whatever it is you want. Let alone that people have been buying them up.
It reminds me of a scene in "Bananas" in which Woody Allen walks into a cafe and orders wheelbarrow full on sandwiches.
