I already miss my colleagues, and if our business survives, it'll be months before we're together again.

There's a lot of reconstruction work at GCT these days - escalators, elevators, the whole food court, etc., and I'm always in a rush to catch my train! Haven't spent leisure time there in forever. I'm making a promise to myself to change that when things return to a semblance of normal.

Stay well, neighbor!

If I got a good seat, I could look out on the river as we made the very quick journey. I loved that downtime after the stress of my job in Manhattan. Sometimes I would get a vodka tonic drink at the vendor who sold drinks right on the platforms. I guess that service is gone.

You can still find beer and single-serve wine in a few of the convenience shops, though. I'm on the Harlem line - quicker and cheaper than New Haven from where I live, although there's a NH lines station within a mile of my house. It's that South Norwalk transfer that's a huge time-waster.

I get a lot of reading and writing done on my commute. Some people hate it; I love(d) it. Hope to be back in the city by autumn.

Grand Central is usually packed with people, not only on the floor depicted in this picture, but the floor below. You usually have to maneuver around tourists, who stand everywhere, taking photos of the terminal and their friends a few feet away. You also have to maneuver around people coming down the escalators from 200 Park Avenue directly into the terminal. Then you have to maneuver around people who are emptying out of trains that just arrived, while you try to get to your own platform.

It truly is chaotic there, especially during evening rush hours. To see it quiet like that picture is sad.
