(7,652 posts)I'd like to see her resign and have Newsom appoint Kevin De Leon to serve out her term. He's VERY impressive and perfect to rep CA in the US Senate. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kevin_de_Le%C3%B3n

(16,254 posts)Diane knows better, surely. I heard she was quite wealthy, as was her husband. Didn't he have an inside lane to buying government buildings, or some such?
How much money do these people need? I don't know how much info these forms expose (too small to read), but it sure is suspicious.
Very interesting.

(31,261 posts)This is why I think her sales were innocent. With her wealth, she likely has people doing the transactions, but she has to report the sales. I will wait for her explanation.

Best way to avoid that is do what they should have done and warn the public, what with them being public officials and all. Then sell. But they would have made less money.
Shows you their priorities.

(31,261 posts)If you just had a hunch that woke you up from sleep and the next morning you sold everything when the market opened, then at 2pm really bad news hit the market, the SEC may flag your transaction and look into you, but once they see you had no insider information and don't know anyone that does, they would close the case without recommending to Justice that you be charged.

There was a week when the market began to dive. Any point after that would have been understandable. Anytime before that, questionable.

(31,261 posts)I will wait for her explanation. She and her husband are mega-rich, like $700-$900 million rich, if not more. I just don't see her damaging her reputation to save for her what is a couple pennies. Also, people that rich have advisory firms that manage their assets, that firm could have sold with no connection to her, but it would have to tell her it sold because she has to report the sale. Like I said, I will wait for her explanation.

Blue_true
(31,261 posts)Except in Loeffler's case, her or her husband had to pay a massive fine for this type of activity, Feinstein doesn't have that record. But even for the Georgia Senator, I will wait for her explanation.

(31,261 posts)I read that she should resign and DeLeon be given her seat. I read where someone called her a DINO that has never been on our side. I read where someone accused her and her husband of profiteering from the Iraq War, though it baffles me how a Bay Area office building Developer and his US Senator wife would make that work. It's all coming from certain types.

(31,261 posts)absolutely don't make sense, the woman and her husband are mega-rich. My guess, her financial advisers sold then notified her because she has to file an ethics report.
