My brother is a radiologist at a large hospital in Atlanta .. he just emailed me:

"We had 6 patients admitted in 2 hours last night with Covid-19. I reviewed all of the CT scans this morning and it was really scary. Some of these patients had been having symptoms for a week (and shedding virus for more than that). The youngest was 32 yrs old."

it is still running almost 1/2 of the infected being the "young adults" (20 - 40).

In Atlanta, at least, as per the OP. This virus can and does, sometimes, trigger a CYTOKINE STORM in young, healthy victims.

and/or who had a known contact with a confirmed case. So who knows how many are out there with it that are asymptomatic.

I also believe it was noted that the younger ones had also traveled overseas so they were in the eye of a storm.

(20-40's?) critically ill patients in So Cal too. They had come back from a ski trip to Italy. Maybe the Italian strain is worse?

And it's not even the main hospital in the state. By this time next week the numbers are going to explode, IMHO. I am from RI.

I'm hoping RI will be okay. I have relatives out there. Keep well, and make calls to get this horrible jerk out of the WH. He just does not care. Tell your daughter to stay safe.

The only survivors getting follow-up CT scans right now are the ones who had either unusually severe illness, or else obvious lingering problems.

You need to do a random sampling across all recovered cases to see the true picture of long-term sequelae.

A nurse told me on Monday that it is on every floor in the hospital. The numbers we're hearing are not correct, it is prevalent.

Or at least were. I haven't taken their temp lately. My mother is a retired Dean of a nursing college in NY and Professor Emeritus who said that that it is going to get much worse before it gets better. I was actually surprised that she went with science over politics, but that tells me that this is bad.

She is very worried and has encouraged all of us and even the grandchildren (two of whom have asthma) to stay home and not expose themselves to the general public. The fact that she is acting as a health professional first and pushing politics aside tells me that she is terrified of this and worried that it will harm someone in our family.

I honestly did not expect that reaction, but I trust that she will always put the family above her political convictions.
