When the economy was in free fall in 2009, losing 750k jobs per month, the Obama administration and Democratic party had to substantively change the Recovery Act (add more tax cuts, of course) to get three Republicans to vote for it - three!!! All we heard from Republicans was about the debt, deficit, and regulations. And we heard this even though we had just finished with a Republican administration who had six years of full government control. In short, the country had barely any Republican support to pass stimulus measures when we needed it.
Now we have another economic crisis that requires fiscal stimulus to ensure we don't slide into a depression. The Democratic party in the House, led by Nancy Pelosi, immediately passes a massive stimulus package to help the American people. Do you really think if the tables were turned again, and there was a Democrat in the White House, the Republican party would step up and pass a stimulus to help the American people? We know the answer is "hell no!" The Republicans would rather the country fail than to "help" a Democratic president. Their actions demonstrate they hate Democrats more than they love the country.
We need to never forget how Democrats responded to both of these economic crises and how Republicans did not.

We never get credit or thanks and we continue to bail them out one POTUS after the other. Clinton, Obama...the next Dem will do the same. We need to remind the country about this more at election time, and loudly, to be heard over lying Fux Ruse and to get through the thick heads of the cult who have selective memories.

(48 posts)Why aren't we seeing questions about this topic repeatedly asked to elected Republicans? Particularly those who railed against past stimulus measures. Why is there no accountability on Republicans for being wrong time and again? Or just flat out hypocritical when it's convenient? And forget Trump, he just says "that's a nasty question...," or "fake news" and reporters move on until they ask a question he'll answer (or he just leaves). Point being there are just two different sets of rules for Democrats and Republicans.
