Good people.

A few days ago, I posted about a decision my wife and I made about running our business during the pandemic (here: https://www.democraticunderground.com/100213097268)

So many of you posted kind words on that thread (or clicked the "DURec" button), including a number of people I've quarreled with at some time or another over various political differences. I can't tell you how nice it felt. Thank you, DU!

Since I wrote that post, our landlord (the person we rent space from for our shop) offered to waive next month's rent. We were planning to reach out to them and see if they'd be willing to give us some kind of relief, but we hadn't even done that yet - this wasn't something we prompted. I am stunned, and extremely grateful.

In general, I think most people are decent and fair and care about others, but sometimes it's easy to lose track of that. In the midst of truly terrible circumstances, this week has reminded me that while the bad apples are hard to ignore (*cough* Trump *cough*), there are so many others who are willing to go out of their way to help.
