Because the Sales, Marketing & Top Management meet - and they have no one with any kind of health knowledge on their team - they make decisions that potentially could hurt their employees and come back to bite them - based only on making the numbers and staying on budget.
Though they say - we will do no unnecessary traveling - they still have their sales people traveling putting them at risk and the employees back at the home offices at risk when they return from their trips.
They are keeping their office employees in the office instead of shutting the offices down and letting them work from home. As such - all the employees and their families, significant others, back home are put at risk too.
For Example: I may be self-isolating - but if my wife has to continue working - when she comes home - if she was exposed to someone that has the virus in the office - but was not tested - I'm now put at risk.
What's it going to take? Someone at the office being diagnosed with the virus - before they make the decision to shut down. If that happens - anyone that works in that office - becomes exposed - and potentially they go home and spread the virus to their families.
We must take this seriously. Send your people home - or at least take into consideration those people that work for you that are in the high risk group (i.e., seniors) and send them home. Don't risk people's lives because you want to make your numbers and get your bonus.
If you want to keep on working - go ahead. But think of your employees and at least protect your employees. Don't make them pay for your greed.

(13 posts)I am retired, but hubs still works. He reports there aren't enough laptops within the company to allow the employees to work from home, nor can any be had for purchase. It's a manufacturing company so it would just be the front office folks anyway that could work from home. Everyone else is hands on.

(11,996 posts)so things are quite bad enough what with layoffs, cuts etc.
I'll go to work as long as I can, and hope I get paid. Others may work from home if they can.
