I really don't want Trump trying to turn his abject failure during this virus crisis into "success"

Granted, yesterday (March 16th) he finally seemed to mouth some realistic statements about the virus.

However, I think we can all agree that the other 99.9999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999% of his performance has been an abject failure of ignorance, stupidity, craven politics and egomania.

At this moment I can't think of how he can somehow propagandize his abject failure into success.

Am I alone in this ?

I mean all this preparing for the worst and it never arrives. Then what? It’s such an unknown right now.

Perhaps you should be looking at the Guardian worldwide updates
That was showing 181K cases + world wide just a few minutes ago.

The Johns Hopkins site is showing 183K +.

So far, for those who think this is all blown out of proportion - it is still landing with a thud.

Them "furriners" can't be expected to have a decent health system, besides which they all live on top of each other. What happened there will never happen here.

Until later this week or early next week when Washington and the New York area, at least, have to start rationing health care.

After last night's announcement, town is very quiet. And in order to go out to work, to the doctor, to do food shopping or the pharmacy, to exercise alone or walk the dog or your kids, or to help a neighbor, you have to carry a signed 'attestation' declaring what you're doing.

Someone we know was 'controlled' today. She had the document with her.

It's pretty strange here.

We're not sure how long this is going to last.

I wish I could share your optimism. But past patterns suggest that the lies will be largely forgotten, and when this is over the mostly complicit MSM will be saying how the crises has helped him mature into being a good president. And if Trump has any genius in him at all, it's in his ability to manipulate media.
Morning Joe and Mika are already congratulating him. Just about everyone else are commenting on his "change of tone" regarding how serious he's now taking it. He'll be given credit for getting us through the worst crises to hit us in modern times.

The only thing that will take him down is a major recession.
I hope that I'm wrong.

Our job and the Democratic Party's job is to continually remind America of how horrible he has been and continues to be.

literally all he's got (even if he had very little to do with it).

But, no matter how bad this one gets - and I think the economic damage caused by this pandemic will be absolutely horrendous - he will escape the blame because the right's oft repeated mantra will be 'it's the virus' fault and no President could have done anything about it'.

will probably go down to 37% before this is all said and done (that was his absolute low point in 2017). No way he wins the election with anything below 45% approval. He’s finished.

We're going to get a light taste of what it's like to be in a war-torn country, mostly safe in homes that haven't been bombed, power and water remaining available (eventually billing moratoriums should keep it on most places), but unlike anything life in a previously wonderfully stable, prosperous nation has prepared us for.

Pretty soon outraged yammering will start filling the newly empty and comfortable but bored hours, in my experience the more feckless and responsible for putting these Republicans in power the more determined to blame others.

That's of course, not referring to those whose incomes have stopped and who have very serious problems. Including eventually children who've lost parents and grandparents and parents whose worst nightmare has come true. The national tragedy will be very quiet and very loud at the same time. There will be messages of anguish here, and some of us will just disappear.

Absolutely no one except some sociopaths will be seeing all the lives "washed away" as he puts it as a Trump "success."

And some people on here "scold" me for saying some in the media need to go to federal prison when this shitshow is finally over.

The GOP is already using this crisis as an opportunity to further demean and destroy the Federal Government by cutting taxes, further exploding debt, and pushing normal federal responsibility off onto our states.

In addition, beyond subsidizing citizens just enough to survive, if we don't rescue many thousands of small business and many millions of mortgage loan holders, there will be massive additional asset consolidation at fire-sale prices that will increase asset concentration toward the ultra-wealthy and plutocrats.

They are all hedged and we the citizens are not.

By virtue of the process above, Trump will be celebrated a success by the big money boys that really count.

Plus, after each crash they always use our money from profits to turn right around and design a new way to flim-flam the public into voting for them again.

KY rant done........
