Why not commandeer hotels/motels? They're all empty because of travel bans. (Original Post) Yavin4 Mar 2020 OP

...not all who are virus positive are going to need medical treatment, but they are still transmitters of the virus.

So they need to be isolated. Perhaps some under guard - especially the ones who are asymptomatic - to keep them isolated.

That's what I came up with when I thought it through.

Here's another question. How do you know that someone who is asymptomatic is actually spreading this disease?

...can still spread the virus.

I think it has been established that it can take up to 14 days for someone exposed to start having symptoms, whether they be mild or severe.

So people that are mildly symptomatic and think they have Rush Limbaugh's cold will still mingle with everyone else and pass it on.

But the ultimate answer to your question is, we will never know until we have massive, accurate testing available everywhere.

This from a "liberal" site. Maybe there are still some abandoned buildings
at Manzanar.

...EXCEPT

this has nothing to do with WWII.

My girlfriend is Japanese, and I have a friend whose family members were in the manzanar camps.

This has to do with what is necessary to FLATTEN THE CURVE.

If that makes me a "fascist," so be it.

And I'm not too thrilled about being on lockdown myself, so please take your sanctimony and...do whatever you want with it.

But, stay safe.

ON EDIT: There has already been a case of a coronavirus positive yokel - in Kentucky if I recall correctly? - who had to have a cop posted outside his house so he wouldn't go out and infect people because "freedumb" or something.

People tested and Confirmed positive should be in quarantine like those with any other
communicable disease. You stated that you approve of putting people in mass confinement
areas, which is Exactly the attitude that was shown in WWII to people who tested positive
for being Japanese Americans and is but one example of the misguided and authoritarian
control of the "other". Enjoy Your lockdown.

...I admit that I'm a Trump-troll fascist nazi asshole.

You win.

BTW: There are all sorts of people (such as HOMELESS in California) who may need shelter during a pandemic, and who may be covid-19 positive. Think it through.

Also, I'm done with you, you are now the only person on DU that I have put on ignore.

Motels too. Great idea. Keep the people who are sick but not too sick to take up a hospital bed.

A lot of the cleaners in hotels and motels do a completely crap job of cleaning.

How are meals going to be handled? All the laundry that will need to be done?

A little more thought might be needed here.
