(15,540 posts)Well, it's not really a form. It was a letter giving me the link and the individual code I input online. It takes about 5 minutes to complete online. They give you an end date to complete it. Mine was April 1st. If they don't receive it, then you'll get a letter and possibly a paper form to fill out.
I'm sure there are plenty of people who still don't know how to use a computer or have internet access.

(635 posts)that gives a website and a 16-digit census ID. When you go to the website, you enter the census ID and answer the questions. It was very easy, too about 5 minutes. If you don't respond online, in a few weeks they will send you a paper questionnaire. if you don't respond to that, they send someone to your residence to collect the answers.

(8,003 posts)There is information about doing it online, but you can't do it without your code that should come in the mail from them. I was given the option of filling out the form or doing it online.

(34,136 posts)I believe the traditional date is April 1 and they want the count of people who were in the household as of that day.
I've found ancestors who were counted twice when they were visiting a relative on the date a census taker came by but were reported at their regular residence on the date that was supposed to have been used. In 1945 for the Florida State Census my father was counted as living with his parents even though he was actually in the Pacific aboard a submarine and had not been home for a year or so.
I also found an ancestor who died the day after the census was enumerated - but he is counted on the census!

What if someone doesn't report or a whole family doesn't report.

(16,829 posts)if you join the Ancestry website. It gives you the details of everyone living in a given household and their gender and age. It also tells you if each person was a slave or free and how the people in the household are related to each other.
