BREAKING scoop: HHS was hit by a cyber attack last night, sources tell me and @shiramstein. Multiple incidents of hacking.

////BREAKING: U.S. Health and Human Services Department suffered a cyber-attack on its computer system Sunday night during the nation’s response to the coronavirus pandemic. The attack appears to have been intended to slow the agency’s systems down.

Reports of an HHS cyberattack are overblown, a DHS source tells me. The site never crashed. It experienced an unusual number of "scans," but on a scale of 1-10, the incident was about a 2, the source tells me.

This would be a pretty effective time for any number of cyber attacks on our infrastructure. pecosbob Mar 2020 #8

which we are now as we haven't been in a long time. Trump has turned our country into a sitting duck.

Utilities
Financial Institutions
Government agencies
Ordinary citizens
People looking for a "miracle cure" for the coronavirus
and probably many other targets.

yet. HHS has been attacked a bunch of times, and I've read their systems are proven not as secure as they should be. Security's a big part of the "fat" the RW's been cutting to transfer wealth to their cronies.

And of course the private sector. Businesses in the healthcare industry are under constant attack.

I was experiencing a lot of network problems on my credit and debit terminals last night and was thinking how screwed we'd be if our credit networks went down.
