(4,694 posts)I understand why. Out of 120 residents of the nursing home in Kirkland WA 31 have died and 60 have been sickened. But it's so tragic that residents are now denied visits from loved ones, one of the most precious things they had left.

(7,510 posts)Thursday I went to visit, they had just shut the doors. I couldn't go in. I last saw Monday. There is no Covid there (Lucas County Ohio). I won't see her for weeks. She's in the alzheimer's unit and extremely hard of hearing. It may better this way, she couldn't understand the situation anyway. I talked to the head nurse this morning, she said that Mom is OK.
I'll won't be able to see or talk to her on her birthday.

(4,673 posts)loved ones around the country in this situation. When Mom was alive, I can't imagine the ache of not being able to be there, be an advocate, hug her, etc.
The social consequences of CV are going to be severe.

(65,199 posts)At least 2 weeks, my wife was told.
He's not super old, but he's still rehabbing from a 2 week hospital stay.
He's likely to need assisted living from now on, so this is sort of his home.
But, they're free to move about in building & grounds.

(14,922 posts)and she set up a computer for her over there so she could Skype and send programming she knew her mom might enjoy. I know it's too late to do all that now, but I wonder if nursing homes and other senior residences could at least set up Skype or other face to face apps on a central computer?
