California Governor Calls Out What A Mess Coronavirus Testing Is Right Now

The Golden State received test kits for COVID-19 from the federal government that did not include all the components needed to actually run a test.

So far only about 1,500 people have been tested in the state, Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) said in a press conference. While the state government has 8,000 test kits available, the kits have not all included every necessary component to actually perform the test for COVID-19

“I continue to reinforce the tests are not complete, kits all do not include re-agents, chemicals, solutions that are components,” Newsom said, adding that it was “imperative” that labs get access to “all ingredients that are components of the test.” , Newsom said.

Newsom said the Centers for Disease Control was “well aware” of the issue and he had spoken to Vice President Mike Pence about it Wednesday. The CDC and the White House did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

“It’s an issue that needs to be resolved quickly,” Newsom said. He added that he’d been “clear” with federal partners on the importance of providing test kits with all components and that it is “imperative” for them to address the issue, “so we’re not relying on commercial labs for completely integrated tests.”

Like the Katrina disaster we need someone like general honore giving daily updates and answering questions.

Unfortunately there is no way trump would give authority to someone competent and believable.

Honore is retired and 73. He doesn’t have the epidemiology chops for the job but he could be coupled with someone from cdc who does.

Not that he’s the only choice but it would be fitting if he became known to history as the general who cleaned up republican messes.

Why do we need this? Because they will continue to screw up and lie about it. Without daily reporting and questions it will not improve. Definitely not fast enough

9. All due respect, but did Newsom make it CLEAR that he wanted all reagents

when he first asked for the test kits? I don't know he's got much of a leg to stand on in his follow-up call to Pence.
