Discussion: I've met dumbasses( no trumpers /RW ) who think the closures of large gatherings

now is a set up for martial law or a move by certain industries to gain profits from sales due to virus fears . I tried to explain that the closures are in place to slow people from getting the virus all at once and overwhelming medical facilities if needed. A hospital has 50 respirators and 100 will show up not everybody can be assisted.
In Italy they have had to make decisions on who can be helped and some elderly are being denied is my understanding due to overwhelming numbers
Same issue in China it was the overwhelming spread all at once
Won’t happen here is their answer to that
or for Italy , there were a lot of foreigners visiting museums.. but never think about travel in US

My question is what portion of these dumbasses when /if we slow down the transmission rate due to the cautionary moves being taken will assume that See, there never was any reason to panic ?
It was all for nothing they will say or it was just to contain us or stop us from making money or all about others profiting etc.
From the few I have talked to ?- all of them ! No lessons learned 😕 sad
Anyone else running into idiots no listening to Fox or Rush just too dumb to understand
If anything they consider it a trump move against them these are not republicans I’m talking about

It’s sort of scary they don’t understand some will die and it could be prevented

Or are many here against the closures and consider it overhyped too and think I’m an idiot for thinking it will help slow the rising curve?

Don't they understand how viruses are spread? Never mind. They don't care. They are just reveling in their untreated paranoia.

said they are banning events attended by 1,000 or more at a joint press conference
Plus suggested canceling events over 250
Also telling uninsured or undocumented to come for treatment if needed -don’t hide in the shadows or continue working

This is not a time to take chances,”Mayor Lightfoot said. “If you do not feel well, for God’s sake, stay home. All individuals, regardless of socio-economic or immigration status, should seek treatment without fear.”

Officials also recommend the cancelation or postponement of events with crowds of 250.

“I wish I could tell you that going about your everyday lives with no adjustments was the best course of action right now. It is not,” Governor Pritzker said. “We need to reduce social contact in order to try and control the spread of the virus.”

Now people are “bummed” and yes some are losing$$& work I understand but to go off to CT land is not a good thing imo
Really they should be using their time to push and make calls for temporary national UBI while off as most wont get paid if some industries temporarily dry up where they can not work for a few weeks

I’ve been traveling for work since 2/20 and am glad to have a WFH schedule now that I got back this week for at least a few weeks . I have no desire to go to a large party or concert or sports event . It can be cancelled I’m fine with that tbh

I think the restrictions here will help but of course that will just justify their thoughts when the problem is not as bad as it could have been. A “I told you so never was bad “ is what I fear
will be the final deduction for them
They also don’t realize how lucky we are to have a state /city that had actual plans in place for an expected epidemic with a time line maybe not perfect but not turning their government heads away from it either .

"it's no worse than the flu" to admitting that it's a serious problem because they are both over 60 (high risk)by weeks end.

I've already told them that if I feel it's too risky, I won't come to work. I wrote out detailed instructions on writing payroll checks, making tax deposits and accepting credit card payments. They can always reach me by phone.
