I have an odd idea.

I'm not good at coding up an app.

But I have an idea. I have like 3 weeks of PTO or sick leave. I don't think I will need it. I wonder if there is a way for me to donate 2 weeks to a general pool so that someone without time off (either because they used it or their company doesn't offer it) can use it to isolate themselves or at the very least not work sick.

My company would have to take my sick leave, convert it to money, and donate to an agency that would pay someone sick leave at their pay rate... for up to 2 or 3 weeks.

Sort of like a gofundme for PTO.

I think for now it would have to work on an honor system... a lot of companies would have to sign up and thousands of employees would have to be willing to bet they won't need or can borrow from future PTO hours if they do donate to the PTO fund (or hope there are unclaimed hours left).

Crazy Idea?

can transfer their sick leave and, I think, vacation time to other employees in the county. In a situation like this, I'd hang on to them until you're sure you don't need them.

It's almost impossible to imagine that happening between companies.

But there would need to be serious co-ordination between the companies that I'm not sure can happen very easily.
