I will add info soon
This hearing has been remarkable. Dr. Fauci publicly contradicting talking points from WH and VP's office. Really underlying the severity of the situation we're in right now. Turning point, in my mind. First public appearance where we're really getting somewhat of a full picture.

"The bottom line: It is going to get worse," Dr. Anthony Fauci, a top U.S. health official, told lawmakers Wednesday at a hearing that quickly devolved into a partisan fight over the Trump administrations response to the coronavirus outbreak

I believe we can still mitigate the #coronavirus spread in the United States. But to do so we need sufficient testing to identify & contain the virus. Right now we dont have that & time is running out.
Below is the warning from Dr. Fauci of the @realDonaldTrump
Administration.

Dr. Fauci's response when asked how many people will get and/or die from COVID-19 in the U.S.:
"If we are complacent and don't do really aggressive containment and mitigation, the number could go way up...many, many millions."
Trump has spent WEEKS downplaying the crisis.

He's more interested in putting the truth out as opposed to playing politics.
I'm sure he will be promptly demonized by the Trumpists as being the "Deep State."

Anthony Stephen Fauci was born on December 24, 1940, in Brooklyn, New York, to Stephen A. Fauci and Eugenia A. Fauci, who owned a pharmacy in which his father worked as the pharmacist, his mother and sister worked the register, and Fauci delivered prescriptions. He is of Italian descent and grew up Catholic. He graduated from Regis High School in New York City and went on to attend the College of the Holy Cross and received his M.D. from Cornell University Medical College in 1966. He then completed an internship and residency at The New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center.
In 1968, he came to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) as a clinical associate in the Laboratory of Clinical Investigation (LCI) in NIAID. In 1974, he became Head of the Clinical Physiology Section, LCI, and in 1980 was appointed Chief of the Laboratory of Immunoregulation, a position he still holds. In 1984, he became Director of NIAID, which has the responsibility for an extensive research portfolio of basic and applied research on infectious and immune-mediated illnesses.
If he became a federal worker in 1968, he came aboard when there was a pension system. With 52 years in, he probably cannot be stripped of his pension.
It was the first thing I thought of: Trump angrily firing Fauci for insubordination. Well, of course Trump would have a subordinate announce the firing via an email.

Committee chairwoman Carolyn Maloney (D-N.Y.) said at the start of the hearing that it would end an hour and a half early because President Trump called an emergency meeting with the witnesses, who are leading the governments coronavirus response.
Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, and Dr. Robert Redfield, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), were testifying at the hearing. Both are members of the coronavirus task force.
This morning we were informed that President Trump and Vice President Pence have called our witnesses to an emergency meeting at the White House, Maloney said. We don't know the details, just that it is extremely urgent.

(22,171 posts)(pardon the language). The time is here to not classify facts, but instead get them out into the public forum so all can have the same information and act accordingly. States on now on their own. The Fed has been effectively muzzled and stifled by rump and cronies. This is treason, plain and simple. Do no harm to fellow Americans. I thought that this is the long term goal of all Americans, republican or democratic, but I guess not.
Every repug should be nailed to the wall. rump and every rump crony should be nailed to the wall. This is of the highest level of government irresponsibility in protecting the health of all Americans.

(11,949 posts)Standing around with Pence and his incompetent crew he is forced into the party line.
The minute he is put under oath he tells the unvarnished truth.
He is a civil servant who is in his 70s. He can be reassigned and they cant stop him from retirement.
Then he could go to the media daily.
I think his testimony is the reason they are changing from denying to pretending to take it seriously.
