He's hoping if he restricts access to testing and downplays CDC recommendations, that the economy will just hum right along and ignore all the sick people. Businesses don't want to be tricked into thinking this doesn't exist. They want to know the government is doing EVERYTHING it can to show it has as much control over the situation as can reasonably be expected. We all know there WILL be impact but businesses want to know it will be minimized. that their supply lines are safe and their customer base in tact. But when they see a rudderless ship and a president with his head in the sand, they do not have that reassurance and they are going to do what they feel is necessary to protect themselves for the worst... and that is dragging down the markets and the economy with it.
everything drumpf touches dies.

(29,226 posts)it is estimated that more then 60% of the population gets it..
316M x .6 x .02 = 3.8 M dead...
hopefully if you are in the 312M or so that survive... there will be a vaccine.
but hey, mostly old people ( like me ) with health issues ( like me )...
but we could have contained it...

(6,110 posts)I heard this virus can incubate for upto 14 days before symptoms show up.
knock on wood not coughing or fever yet, just feeling my age in late 70's.
4 more days and then time to heave a sigh.

(25,816 posts)it worse with his incompetence. When you imagine the worst thing for him to do
or say, that's what he'll do.
The H1N1 virus, or the swine flu, killed over 12,000 in the US, but the effect
to the market was minimal because of Obama's response.

(9,313 posts)Don't do anything to contain COVID-19 (people might notice and that would hurt the economy)
Outcome obvious: Failure to contain sends the U.S. economy into a tail spin.
