I find myself wondering as I look at the COVID-19 pandemic developing,

how many European peasants saw any benefit whatsoever from the cargoes of the ships and caravans that carried the Black Death to Europe? Other than perhaps a glimpse or whiff in church.

Now it is international travel and cruise ships.

Those responsible for transportation of the virus internationally are not the poor, but the poor will undoubtedly suffer disproportionately.
