Anti-Gay
Bryan Fischer, a nationally syndicated Christian radio host, has a long history of anti-gay activism. In 2009, he began garnering national attention after he was hired by the American Family Association (AFA), which the Southern Poverty Law Center listed as an anti-gay hate group in 2010. Since joining the AFA as director of issue analysis for government and public policy, Fischer has used the group's website and its radio network to promote outrageous and false claims about LGBT people, Muslims, Native Americans and African Americans. Despite Fischer's extreme views like blaming gay men for the Holocaust, calling for the criminalization of homosexuality, and calling for the banning of Muslim immigration to the U.S. prominent conservatives continue to appear on Fischer's radio show.
In His Own Words
"Homosexuals are rarely monogamous and have as many as 300 to 1,000 sexual partners over the course of a lifetime. [T]he risk of sexual abuse in a homosexual household is much greater than in a heterosexual household."
Bryan Fischer Web post, "The Truth about Gay Marriage and Civil Unions," 2006
"It is time, I suggest, to stop the practice of allowing Muslims to serve in the U.S. military. The reason is simple: the more devout a Muslim is, the more of a threat he is to national security."
Bryan Fischer Web post, "No More Muslims in the U.S. Military," 2009
"Homosexuality gave us Adolph Hitler, and homosexuals in the military gave us the Brown Shirts, the Nazi war machine and six million dead Jews."
Bryan Fischer Web post, "Homosexuality, Hitler, and Don't Ask, Don't Tell,'" 2010

(8,021 posts)A right-wing fundamentalist hate group. The Southern Poverty Law Center named them as a hate group last year.
Bryan Fischer is the main face of the organization, and has a radio talk show. All-round douchebag.

I don't know who this guy is, but obviously he's an idiot as well as a misogynistic homophobe.

(18,186 posts)blame other men for ANYTHING.
All of the world's problems - from child molestation, to rape to divorce - are the fault of teh wymmins and teh gays and teh minorities.
They will NEVER call out men, mainly because most of the Fundy males are also doing the raping and the child molesting or the cheating on spouses.
They can't imagine that their "pure, whoesome selves" are anything but blessed by their Gawd. No matter what evils they commit.
If I ever hear a Fundy Christian male call hetero men to account for their sins, I will look out the window for pigs with wings.

(9,527 posts)After all if the women hadn't been so tempting the rapist's penis would never have leapt out of his pants and inside her.
Of course following this line of "thought" that would seem to indicate that if a gay man rapes a straight man it's the straight man's fault, but I'm sure blithering idiot who posted the tweet could explain that away as some sort of consequence of having the gay.
Please note, some portions of the above may contain sarcasm.

(3,310 posts)Remove women and gays and there will still be M on M. Seems to me the better solution would be to remove the M's who are perpetrating the assaults. Let women and gays do their job in relative peace... or at least without the threat of some M who can't keep it in his britches ruining their afternoon.
Double fumducker.

(16,926 posts)Honored to be a guest on the The Michelangelo Signorile Show Friday October 21, we discussed the Southern Poverty Law Center Report: THE PROPAGANDISTS: Bryan Fischer, the American Family Association & the Demonization of LGBT People, detailing Fischers radical extremism, and how he spent almost three decades in Idaho.
In THE PROPAGANDIST, my co-author, Jill Kuraitis and I revealed Fischers rise to the national spotlight. This in-depth investigative piece on Fischers history in Idaho shows how mainstream Idahoans jump-started his controversial career.

(23,796 posts)Personally I don't see homophobes as secretly gay, because I define gay as accepting your homosexuality. But I see your point.

(53,991 posts)Those comments, however, are way too common and can have negative impacts in unintended ways. One way is that it can seem that only "secret gays" or "men who fuck other men" are homophobes (notice, this doesn't occur very often when the speaker is a woman). The other consequence is it can lead some to think homosexuality is a choice, rather than one's acceptance of one's own homo (or bi-, which is often forgotten) sexuality.
Trust me, when sitting in my living room with my partner and we see stories like this, we often make similar remarks like, "you know this asshole has 1-800-HOMOLUV or 1-800-HOT-BOYZ on speed dial!" However, in an open forum, it can lead to misunderstandings. I guess, IMO, it falls in that "prison rape" genre. When people make those comments, they aren't always advocating violence as much as they are wanting "justice" or "making the person see it from the other side."

(53,991 posts)It just seems to be a common theme if they are anti-gay, they themselves are gay or involved in homosxual activity. It simply isn't true.
