From USA Swimming, our school district, and my employer: get a flu shot because it is respiratory disease season and we need to get immunized due to the flu (and corona). All three mention it in the same sentence without actually SAYING it will help. It is a sentence directly lifted from CDC messaging, making it look like the 2 viruses are just seasonal, they are similar, and nothing to see here folks.

Neither of these vaccinations will prevent you from getting COVID-19, but get them anyhow so at least you will have two fewer diseases to worry about. Flu is still going around and any kind of pneumonia is always a danger for older people.

(16,189 posts)It has led to a wording in all 3 of the instances that without careful reading, puts getting the flu shot in the same sentence with preventing COVID-19. People are going to misinterpret that, especially after listening to our illustrious idiotic IMPOTUS calling it the "corona flu" and "this will all be over in April" as if it is the same as the end of flu season.
