Spanish coronavirus patient recovers after being treated with an HIV drug that stops the deadly viru

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-8077889/amp/Coronavirus-patient-recovers-treated-HIV-drug.html
The 62-year-old was treated with the antiretroviral drug lopinavir-ritonavir, sold under the brand name Kaletra, which has been used to treat HIV patients for a decade.

The tablets, known as protease inhibitor drugs, work by preventing the virus from multiplying in the blood.

...

Medics also injected Mr Benitez with beta interferons, proteins which stop reduce inflammation and are used to treat MS sufferers.

The Spanish hospital has been trialling the experimental treatment for weeks in its battle against COVID-19, which has so far infected 171 people in Spain.

This is good and bad no? This means this virus has some likeness to aides? thx in advance uponit7771 Mar 2020 #2
I had heard that before when a scientist was speaking about the structure/make-up of COV-19. skip fox Mar 2020 #4
IIRC, the similarity is that coronavirus attaches itself to our cells just like AIDS does. Talitha Mar 2020 #5
+1, and similar to aides one can have cov-2 and not have cov-19 ... this is slipery uponit7771 Mar 2020 #6

So maybe the AIDS meds can 'un-attach' it?

Taxing my memory here....

SARS also attached itself to our cells, which is why it was so hard to get rid of. It was also mentioned that the coronavirus attachment % rate is higher than the SARS attachment % rate. Sure hope I didn't mis-remember things. If I did, would someone please step in with corrections? Thanks!

I'm sure scientists/doctors here have heard about it, but it's still good to spread this around to urge testing.
