that Pence had originally committed to.
This is being reported on MSNBC.
Adding link to Reuters article which quotes CDC official:

CDC official Anne Schuchat said her agency would also supply kits by the end of the week that could test around 75,000 people.

(4,552 posts)Test kits.
I just read another news article stating that there are 500 tests in a test kit. So using your number 75,000 above, that would mean 75,000 x 500 = 37,500,000 tests.
Hmmm. I will need to do more digging.
According to the Hill, Pence said 1500 kits, 500 tests each which would equal 750,000 tests.
Yes, thats much less than needed, but I believe its more accurate after you do the math and clarify terminology. I wish authorities would stop talking about kits (without an accompanying definition of what a test kit is) and just say tests.
Be vigilant. Be careful. Be calm.

(13,225 posts)Thanks for pointing out the confusion in terminology. MSNBC Morning Joe hosts were using both terms, but the Reuters article clarified that it is 75,000 individual tests.
I updated my OP to reflect this.
