Are you spending less and canceling travel plans due to coronavirus?

I wasn't going to cancel a trip back east in June but my family in other states is canceling so now I have to or I will be the only one there. How is this impacting your spending and travel plans?

to see the monuments and the museums.

Probably not going to get to go.

Hope it is done by the end of year, because oldest son is going to Spain with his college marching band. He'll have fun squeezing his 6'5", long legged, wide shouldered self into a coach seat on a plane.

Wise decision, I think.
The economy is about to tank.

We are not really spending less due to the coronavirus outbreak. We may have spent a little more this week because we decided to stock up on canned and dry goods at our mountain house; in the event of any quarantines, we'll have stocks to carry us through a month or so.

We are planning to travel to The Netherlands week after next to celebrate our wedding anniversary. While we're monitoring the latest developments, we're still planning on going on the trip. If anything significant develops, we'll reconsider our plans. I hope we can go as the expenses are non-refundable!

Fundamentally, we always try to be hygienic when we travel. We wipe down our surroundings on the plane and then try to do the same at the hotel. It doesn't take long and it provides peace of mind.

Interestingly, the State Department's website considers the danger of a terrorist attack in Amsterdam to be more concerning than the virus. Of course, it's Trump's State Department...

of the month. I have no underlying medical issues and there’s no way to recoup all the money I’ve already spent.

We will lose about $1,400 ($800 deposits plus $600 flights). Trying to see if there is any way we can get some of our money back (unlikely).

Will be safer there than in Central Florida. First time in 7 years we aren’t planning to go to Europe. But the virus had nothing to do with the plans.

Although I did tell my wife I might rather get the virus in Europe than here. Would get tested immediately and treated by a healthcare system rather than a healthcare industry.
