He is afraid people will stop buying, stop going out, stop flying etc. So in a shameless, criminal manor, he is putting his re-election above the safety of the US public. I can't think of any other reason he would say something so insane and we know Trump is ALWAYS about helping Trump period!

I doubt if I even needed to point this out because I think it's pretty clear but perhaps some folks here hadn't thought through why he would suggest something so idiotic?

If everyone stayed where they are, it couldn't spread. Obviously, that's very hard to do. ie medical emergencies, fires, police needed, people need food & supplies, etc

Trump doesn't want that because it will hurt the stock market that will damage his chances to get reelected

He’s managed to pull it off every time in the past but this one might finally get through. Bedsides people getting sick, which he couldn’t care less about I think we are going to see the truth of trickle down economics. The rich fat cats are taking a beating on stocks. If it continues it’ll lead to a recession. So far his adoring crowds have basked in critiquing and blaming everyone else with few consequences in their own lives. But it we start getting deep into recession it’ll spread world wide and going to affect most everyone. His crowds will join in the blame game but at some point when they start losing their jobs and seeing their 401ks dive they are going to want some actual action. Of course the rethugs will focus and saving the stock market. As usual they want to privatize profits but make the risk public. But they’ve largely shot their load already and will have trouble getting much done. So then you start printing money leading to high inflation and it just spirals down from there.
