(30,613 posts)what the real problem is, and has no idea what to do about it.
Tuesday, on CNBC, after the huge drop, it was stated "this is mostly due to "one bank", and, rather than cut the rate, the Fed should have "done something" about this 'bank'". They wouldn't state what bank it was, but the guys noted it was due to their shennanigans. These ups and downs have little to do with Trump or Biden or anyone saying anything. The big players know how to manipulate the game, force the Fed's hand and get what they want. Sure, some of the slide is due to decreased productivity, but these sell-offs and buy-backs are market manipulation.

(13,225 posts)Banks are required to maintain a percentage of their total deposits in the account at the Federal Reserve. Banks will borrow and loan funds to each other at the end of the day to meet these requirements. The Fed will intervene and as a last resort when a bank is unable to borrow from other financial institutions and lend to the bank at the fed funds rate.
I got the impression that there was trouble afoot with one or more banks. Can't remember where I read it.

Now, with a month pulled out of the production cycle, it's gonna take a while to find the point to stabilize.
