They have closed North Star Mall in San Antonio for deep cleaning.

State of Disaster, Public Health Emergency issued for San Antonio, Bexar County after patient released from quarantine and then test result of light positive for that woman made.

Updates here:

It is a BIG deal that the mall has been closed. That mall is always busy and is a major attraction for anyone visiting SA.

Also, will the people deep cleaning the mall get tested for COVID19 before they start their work or nah?

(not trying to be a jerk, but if infected people do the cleaning then )

There is a rumor (stress “rumor”) that someone in the mall is now thought to have the virus. Again, rumor. Nothing confirmed.

But to me that could be the impetus for closing the mall. It’s a drastic thing to do. That mall is huge. Either way, I’m glad our city leadership is taking this seriously.

5. Yeah, we'll be besieged by "rumors" now, eh - but we'll keep calm/carry on!

This is quite a statement the city leaders are making here, and surely EVERYone will take note of the current situation if they weren’t before, seems like...hopefully, this spurs some extra hand-washing in SA, if nothing else!!

No bleach. No wipes. No hand sanitizer. No alcohol.

Zilch. Nada.

People are hopefully taking this seriously. I’d rather see over reaction than no reaction.

6. Has been confirmed that CDC mistakenly released someone who later tested positive

I read news report about a woman who was quarantined and been tested and test came back negative and she was released by CDC. After her test later came up positive, she told authorities she had been to the mall where she ate at food court.

4. Who's doing the "deep cleaning"? Minimum wage janitors

or someone with protective gear and knowledge of CDC protocol? My guess is the former, and we're all in trouble.

I hope you didn't mean to imply low wage workers are not capable of doing a good job ... both quickly and completely.

and knowledge to do an efficient job. I work in janitorial, and I know I couldn't handle this level of cleaning. The ppl sanitizing the airplanes, busses and ambulances had on full hazmat gear.
I live in SA as well, and doubt very much they were provided with such.
