Trump is risking all, hoping the warm weather slows the virus.

Trump and his people are still saying the risk is low. Someone told Trump warm weather could end this virus like the normal flu.

If that does not happen and this virus spreads around the country in the upcoming months, Trump will lose the election. He can't bullshit his way out of it.

and Homebound Clients . And she has a background in Infectious Disease. As she mentioned last night,as the Weather warms there will be a surge in infections as the spores multiply with heat and humidity. She has been prepping her Clients making sure they are some what prepared. She has been working on this since late last summer.

Being on the front line working with the most vulnerable members of Society she sees and experiences first hand the failures or success of Governmental Polices . As she mentioned, expect this to get down right ugly for several months. And she is already planning ahead for next years part two of a similiar outbreak.

If it does happen, it will return in the Fall, but the summer will buy us time to develop treatments. As an asthmatic, I am very anxious about this virus.

The novel coronavirus, which is related, may very well follow a similar transmission pattern. That said, it would probably return just in time for the election.

had really shaky knees to begin with, and the measures being taken abroad to deal with all of this almost assuredly will effect Wall Street and the economy at large - at a bare minimum entire countries (China being one of the biggest markets on the planet) are having to quarantine, stopping their economy and production, thereby slowing the world economy.

Even if these dunces don't do much of anything to try to prepare and protect the country, it is highly unlikely they can continue to take credit for the BHO recovery.

13. it's actually the optimal political position for him to take

remember, he's already cut loose many of the staff capable of handling or consulting on containment efforts while cutting budgets to help fund his tax giveaways and golf vacations.

so let's say the pandemic gets way out of hand and Americans are dying by the hundreds across the country. well, that's a damn disaster, and it doesn't really matter what he said before, he just changes the rules however he likes and maybe outright cancels elections because polling places are unsafe for the elderly or some such rationale.

now let's look at the opposite extreme, in which he's correct, it turns out to have minimal impact, and the new infection rate drops to near-zero from April to October. he basically gets to declare himself a prophet, smarter than all those alarmist sciency geeks he fired, and run on his fantastic stable geniusness right up to the election. setup for a landslide win.

more likely, we get something in between, and he gets to tout a successful containment effort, while people forget the shenanigans he pulled at the CDC.

oddly enough Trump made the right political play on this one, imho.

14. The 1918 flu pandemic did that...

It started in late winter/early spring of 1918, and then subsided over the summer.

It returned in the ensuing fall/winter 0f 1918/19 and killed thousands. The government at the time, not wanting to cause a panic or lower morale during the war, did pretty much what TrumpCo is doing now. It had a lethality rate of about 2% IIRC, which is about what COVID-19 is floating around.
