The history of this country is dark.

Notice my avatar ???

I started studying the history of this country about 13 years ago.

It was truly soul crushing.

I cried many times as I learned the truth.

Truly soul crushing.

I'm pretty sure what I know is barely more than the tip of the iceberg when it comes to history, war, and conquest. War is definitely a racket, and Eisenhower was right on the money when he warned of the military-industrial complex. Just what I've learned reading posts here made me realize how much is just completely omitted from history classes in school.

Or forgotten, such as the war against Native Americans mentioned below.

I think the darkest day of our country, at least in my life time, was the day congress gave Bush a green light on Iraq. However, Afghanistan was where the dark begin.

Not long ago I posted here asking if anyone knew when we begin negotiating with the Taliban. The onslaught of escalating horrors shifted my focus and I was curious how I had either mis-remembered or something else had changed.

I started reading what I could and I found this paper. What a read it is... I do not understand how this all goes unnoticed. I see nothing good coming from negotiating with the Taliban. I am letting my sisters down. I wish I had more influence.

I sure would like to set a few people down and make them read....

It's hard enough when you have a pretty good idea what is what. It's different when it is confirmed.

As a nation, we conducted a war against the indigenous people of this continent for over 100 years (longer if you count pre-1789). The current war in Afghanistan is under 19 years old.

I'm reminded of the last scene in the movie "The Bridge on the River Kwai" where the camp doctor/POW looks over the death and destruction and says "Madness! Madness!"

And let's stop bring world cop.

Bring the troops home from Okinawa. And all those other places on every continent except Antarctica.

But of course the bipartisan foreign policy is always another forever war to make money.
