After a long seize of literally fighting for his life from pneumonia last year he is back in the hospital again with a collapsed lung!😭 Hes been my dear friend for 25 years and I am concerned about his heart again as he had a very fast heart rate. Had to call paramedics to come get him. He contributes so much to D.U.
please send good thoughts for him. Pneumonia at this time last year too.

(175,751 posts)As a doctor once said to me: "Hospitals are horrible places to get well". I hope that he gets away from the poking and prodding and being awakened in the middle of the night very soon.

(51,632 posts)pneumonia where the good blood cells are mistaken for bad ones and they are eaten up like they are the disease itself. I lost 1/3 of my blood internally had had to get transfusions and almost died. I couldn't take off sick from school where I was a 1st Grade teacher since too many people were out sick and I already used my allotted sick days. Stupid me, I listened to a bad doctor and a really bad school district that is about equal to tRump in their genuine concern for the well being of their staff and students. They only care about the bottom line/$$$.
Hopefully his lungs will get stronger with rest and proper care. Having a correct and timely diagnosis and treatment is key. As I was leaving the hospital they gave me a pneumonia vaccination which I didn't know existed. I have had both bacterial and viral and the vaccine is for one of them but not the other. Make sure he knows about that and gets one, just in case.

Hopefully the heart rate is because of the loss of O2 with a lung that is not working at all or well. I tend to get pneumonia a lot too, that is not a good thing and never seems to leave you. Sending love, hugs and support to both of you, I am glad he has you. Poor guy, that is no fun at all.

(16,296 posts)and medication. Possible link between it and lung problems. I had both and while it wasn't a walk in the park, both are under control with the pacemaker and meds.
Good wishes to your friend.

Its hard to be the friend or loved one of someone whos ailing. You suffer right along with them, often sick with worry.
