I went out to pick up my morning newspaper from the pile of snow where it usually ends up,

and through the plastic bag into which the folded paper had been placed, I read "Trump at 52%" and I thought, "Aw, fuck me, how is that possible?" So I took it out of the bag and unfolded it, expecting to read news that would cause me to scream and vomit, and I read: "Trump at 52% disapproval in state." And now I feel a little better.

How in the world can anyone be undecided?!

Thanks for the story in your OP. It was almost O. Henry-esque!

In my state, Trump is at 43% approval, which just blows me away that it's that high, and at 53% disapproval. I mean, I just can't figure that out, except perhaps the 43% matches the percent of people who get their news from AM talk radio and Fox. And the 53% matches the people who get their news from a wider variety of sources.

Because if the news were actually reported straight, without a corporate slant, I'm thinking Trump's disapproval would be up in the 60s or even 70s.

are okay with that? I just don't get it. That's why I have little hope for this country. Either people just don't give a shit or they actually think what that thing is doing is just fine. It literally makes me sick.

Compared to some other presidents his numbers are unbelievably high. Not too far from most other fairly recent presidents. Some were lower than I expected and some much higher. Seems Americans have a long history of odd feelings toward their elected officials.

So, there's a potential therapy protocol here; all we have to do every day is convince ourselves that he's finally done his worst, I dunno- shot someone on 5th Avenue- and then feel the relief when we realise he hasn't- oh, but wait, then he'll no doubt do it and then the next day we'll have to, I dunno- convince ourselves that he's finally, um nuked Norway? And then- oh, okay...never mind
