Missing Toddler Case Is 'Unlike Anything' Before
Evelyn Boswell's mother didn't report her missing for over 2 months

A missing-toddler case made headlines Friday when the girl's grandmother was pulled over in a reportedly stolen BMW, the Knoxville News-Sentinel reports. Angela Boswell, 42, and her companion William McCloud, 33, were arrested in North Carolina and charged with possessing stolen property. Whether this helps in finding Evelyn Boswell—a 15-month-old Tennessee girl last seen in December—remains to be seen. Investigators say the case is muddied by the fact that Evelyn's mother, Megan, has given conflicting statements, and didn't report her missing until Tuesday. For more:

'Kinda vanished': "Well the reason I didn't report it or anything was I knew the person who had her, and I didn't want them to run away with her," the East Tennessee woman tells WCYB. "And as soon as they thought anything was going on they just kinda vanished. ... In a way I knew that as soon as anything went down this person was going to disappear and they have. They won't answer phone calls."

When I moved here to TN in the 1980s, authorities were about to realize that all the bits of one body found all over the city was actually the result of a love triangle (all three shared an appartment). The killers were not physically able to get rid of the body so they cut it up and left parts all over town. The media called it the "Turso Murder".

Then I spent years noting the news on the forever trial of "Zoo Man Husky", our serial killer who killed four prostitutes. Admitted it. Evidence showed it (he had souvenirs). But the search warrant was signed by a commissioner not a judge. He's in jail for rapes not murders. Huskey is in "murderpedia" anyway.

Oh and the criminal court judge who dismissed the Zoo Man charges was later arrested for drug use and many of his results were tossed. Because of this judge, TN had to review a very gruesome case in which a young couple was raped, tortured, and murdered by five people. Cases for some of the five had to be retried.

And that's just what I know in East Tennessee. Have no idea what has happened in the rest of the state. Oh wait I do know. Just before I got here, they had recently got rid of Gov Ray Blanton, who liked to pardon criminals. The story in the movie "Marie" was about the pardons board head who refused to release prisoners for bribes. The new Gov Lamar Alexander was sworn in three days early to prevent more mischief.

WRT the OP: I once heard the the Body Farm originator Dr. Bass speak. He said that at times a missing young adult wouldn't be reported because the family wasn't interested e.g. disobeyed the parents or other reason that a missing person was just not a problem. Authorities would have a body and no name. BTW the Huskey case is described in Death's Acre (book on the Body Farm).

I'll have to keep an eye on this Boswell case. And maybe consider moving to a less crazy state. I apologize in advance for any nightmares. Dollywood is still a safe place to visit.
