General Discussion

I don't want to make any accusations so I won't say any names. But in the age of bots, trolls, Putin,
and hi-tech agent provocateurs, a little paranoia seems reasonable.
The Velveteen Ocelot
(115,735 posts)because they don't have a life, I suppose it's possible, but 62 posts a day is pretty busy.
Liberal In Texas
(13,556 posts)sites. The hackers are professional Russian provocateurs. They can post way more than 62/day. Probably 62/min.
We are being attacked. Cyber warfare. Make no mistake.

(3,473 posts)What this person is posting could be an indication.
For example, if they are posting in the primaries forum and bashing all of the candidates or if their posts appear to promote division or defeatism, that would certainly be suspicious.

(722 posts)And how can it be a personal attack or flame when the post is directed at a pattern of behavior and not at a specific person? I personally think the alert system on DU is being abused a lot lately, but I'm not going to name any names or point out any groups that might be doing it, because in the age of bots, trolls, Putin, and hi-tech agent provocateurs, a little paranoia does indeed seem more than reasonable.

(6,486 posts)I used to be on a jury maybe once a month. Now every single time I come to DU I'm on a jury almost immediately. And almost every time it's just somebody that doesn't like something somebody said. Or one participant in a pissing contest alerts on their pissing competitor.

(100,081 posts)Something definitely does not pass the smell test.

(871 posts)to say the least. Sounds like more than one person is using the account....for a reason. I would check for similitaries on their posts.

(26,587 posts)And started in immediately with being extremely combative.
I've also seen pretty obvious trolls take up to a decade to finally get banned. I've seen posters who were later uncovered as trolls get themselves assigned as moderators, back on the old DU.
And you're right. Trolling is becoming much more organized and high tech. It makes sense to be wary.

(2,503 posts)I don't have a problem with them posting, but when every post is something negative against a candidate they don't support and nothing positive about the one they do, then I take issue.

(29,674 posts)When I first started here I had probably 1000 the first month but that was in the day of the epic Lounge Lizard posts. A couple of good old fashioned flame wars such as on kudzu, corn flakes, breastfeeding, Olive Garden or even Laura Branigan and it's easy to do.
RandiFan1290
(6,237 posts)Also a bunch of zombie accounts. They were created years ago with no posts and suddenly spring to life.
