Trump is doubling down on his criticism of "Parasite" as this year's best picture winner at the Academy Awards, saying he prefers to see American-made films honored.
"This year we had a movie, they said 'best movie' - they announced the movie from South Korea. I said what's that all about?" Trump said with a grin at a campaign rally Friday in Las Vegas.
"Parasite," a class warfare satire directed by Bong Joon-ho, made history earlier this month as the first non-English language film to win the top prize at the Oscars in the award show's 92-year run.
"Look, I get along great with South Korea," Trump continued, "but I've never seen that movie before. They used to call it 'best foreign movie.' Now we do it that way."

(7,947 posts)He has been insulting our ally, the modern, democratic, and culturally innovative South Korea. He wants to pretend that NK is better, which is beyond insane.
He's so... terrible.

(5,403 posts)Sure Don.
So how many films from Hollywood have, in recent times, been a satire about class warfare?
Well, there is . . . . nope, can't think of any.
Just your standard . . . . guns make loud noises, bad guys never win, aliens are definitely the bad guys, violence is a valid response to any good reason, and for the girls . . . feelgood stuff, like the genre of When Harry met Sally.
But films that discuss the Big Divide? Too close to home, too embarrassing, would never get off the ground.
Then of course there is the Trump SJT (superficial judgement thing) in play. Not American, not White People, not in English? Must be rubbish then!

(82,849 posts)This isn't about "Parasite" so much as about the Obamas producing an Oscar-winning documentary. He was also stuck (once again) on Greta Thunberg, and Time's Person of the Year award. The envy, jealousy and bitterness just ooze out of every pore.
