Roger Stone backlash: Democrats demand Barr resign, call for investigation, hearings

WASHINGTON — Congressional Democrats on Wednesday called for an emergency hearing and investigation into the Department of Justice's decision to reduce the recommended sentence for longtime Donald Trump confidante Roger Stone.

Top Democrats are pushing for the GOP-led Senate Judiciary Committee to hold a hearing to review the decision that led to the sudden resignation of all four prosecutors Tuesday from the Stone criminal case. Stone was found guilty in November of all seven counts against him including making false statements, witness tampering and obstructing a congressional probe.

One Democrat said Wednesday that Attorney General Bill Barr should step down.

"Something egregious like this demands that the inspector general investigate and demands that the chairman of the Judiciary Committee hold a hearing now," Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., said on the Senate.

The next President should appoint an Attorney General, give him or her adequate funding, and go after these crooks. Once caught and indicted they need to be brought before duly-constituted magistrates who will show them all the tender mercy and compassion of Maximilien Robespierre.

we all need to start charging the alarm to get rid this mad man. He is worst than Trump. They should open this investigation today since the Senate wants to investigate a sham on Joe. It is now or never because if Barr don't show up, than Biden should not show up at that fake trial when they blocked witnesses in the real trial. I want all the magnificent seven to start this trial and get in front of the camera to all news station and announce what is going on with election security and how Trump and Barr is breaking laws and the Rep are looking the other way because they are using Biden to take focus on all the crimes that are being committed. They should also call in Pe rb or whatever the dud name that Rachael interviewed. Time for Dems to make some loud noise now.Elizabeth has already started it and they need to pick up from there and let the world know everyday as the Repukes will do. Adam , Jerry, Jeffery's all the rest, do it now before it is too late and while it is still hot.

Congress can make as much noise as they want; it means nothing. There is no means by which he would be removed or induced to step down.

Trump has his Roy Cohn.

This is how America works now, for the foreseeable future. No GOP Administration will operate any other way again.

If i'm reading your post correctly, you are saying that congress should just give up. Strongly disagree. Congress needs to keep on making noise as Trump/Barr keep running roughshod over the constitution and the rule of law.

I'm stating the facts of the current situation. Barr won't resign. Calls for resignation are pointless, but not loudly calling out the behavior.

The administration resisted every Congressional subpoena, turned over no documents, and the Judiciary let them get away with it. They're shameless; they cannot be shamed into an ethical action that would be to their detriment. Nor will any future GOP Administration, as the essential impotence of the Constitution's tripartite government structure has been exposed.

Congress can impeach the motherfucker (I'm not sure what for yet), but it will take at least as long at President Asshole's: 4 months. That's June at the earliest. Do you think that will change Barr's behavior before, during, or after he is acquitted?

It won't.

This continues until a Dem President is inaugurated, and not 1 minute less. That's how Authoritarianism works.

He's certainly not stepping down because the dems ask him to. And if they investigate, he'll withhold documents and witnesses and there won't be a damned thing anyone can do about it. The GOP is going to pull out all the stops between now and November. They have been playing the long game while the dems have been in reactionary mode for 40 years.

Barr, like Trump, is going nowhere. The GOP has been playing the long game. They started out by taking the state houses and gerrymandering. They have been rewarded by their actions.

The basic difference between the Dems and the GOP is the GOP people love authoritarianism. They all love to be told what to do. To fall in line and not ask questions. That's what they've been doing and did with the Senate vote on Trump.

The Dems, on the other hand, are much more independent thinkers and we question authority. We don't blindly follow. As Will Rogers famously said "I am not a member of any organized political party, I am a Democrat."

We not only need to win the presidency, we need to keep the House and take over the Senate. Moscow Mitch and Co. need to go.
