Republican voters keep voting to screw themselves and lose every government benefit they receive.
Some of them are racists/bigots. Some of them will vote against anything Democrats are for. But far too many of them are actually not knowledgeable of the fact that Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, child care programs, student loans and so much more that helps them, comes from federal government programs. They come from the taxes we all pay.
If they were made aware that Republicans are trying to fuck them out of every benefit that helps them survive, would they still vote for Republicans? Seriously. Could hatred, bigotry, racism, and all the rest of the shit they've bought into make them vote against their own self interests?
And then add Trump to the mix. They can't seem to see that he's screwing them far worse than the Republican Party ever dreamed of. Are they lemmings? Are they suicidal? I don't get it. I can't grasp what goes on in their minds.
What the fuck is wrong with them????

(25,479 posts)Yes, in part because they buy the propaganda that everything is the fault of Democrats. They don't see it as Trump screwing them. They buy his crap about it being our fault.

(21,798 posts)A non-political guy who always votes Republican because "guns". I asked about his mother a while back, and during the conservation I pointed out that she was on Medicaid. He didn't believe me, but looked into it and found out I was right.
I hope he is rethinking his Republican support, but I won't hold my breath. At least I know I have got him thinking, which is the first step to prying someone away from a belief system.

(6,565 posts)My mother was sent to a nursing home against my will, and I could not get her sprung. That is, until she lost her Medicaid, and I refused to get it renewed for the ratfuck nursing home. They packed her up and delivered her back to the address on the paperwork. She came home to live with me and was happy until she passed away at the age of 82. If I hadn't existed, they would have put her on the street -- more likely, she would have been sent to an ER, and they could have refused her readmission to the home, thereby stranding her in a hospital. A very bad system, and I wish some President would figure that out.
