Trump Again Downplays Brain Injuries in Iran Attack With Toll at 109

President Donald Trump again downplayed the severity of head injuries suffered by U.S. troops during an Iranian missile attack, as the injury total rose to 109.

“Head trauma -- that exists, but it’s, you know, I view it differently than most and I won’t be changing my mind on that,” Trump said Monday.

Trump spoke to Fox Business in an interview Monday, after the Defense Department said that 109 U.S. service members, or 45 more than previously disclosed, had been diagnosed with a “mild traumatic brain injury” after the Jan. 8 Iranian strike on the Al Asad airbase in Iraq. That strike was in retaliation for the U.S. killing of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani.

“The missiles landed in a way that didn’t hit anybody,” Trump said of Iran’s missile strike.

Except for the 109 people who got wounded. Please, “mild traumatic brain injury.” No such animal.

That is what a chickenhawk would say. Others would say the missiles were set to AirBurst just to cause such injuries from concussion.

He did not protect the troops. And continues to not protect the troops. This is the definition of unfit for office.

The press has been remarkably incurious about this whole episode, hasn't it? These are the same folks who trot out every last rumor and detail of the Benghazi incident, from early speculation that it was in response to that knucklehead preacher and his Mohammed video to the non-existent stand down order. But last month's missile attack on our military base? Couldn't be bothered. Whatever. No casualties. Oh, 64 casualties? Okay then, 64. What? A hundred? No biggie. Now it's 109? Look, this is old news, who cares?

12. The VFW demanded he apologize for his idiotic remarks in late January

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – "In light of today's announcement from the defense department that 34 U.S. service members suffered traumatic brain injuries as a result of Iran's retaliatory strike and President Trump's remarks which minimized these troops’ injuries, the Veterans of Foreign Wars cannot stand idle on this matter.

TBI is a serious injury and one that cannot be taken lightly. TBI is known to cause depression, memory loss, severe headaches, dizziness and fatigue — all injuries that come with both short- and long-term effects.

The VFW expects an apology from the president to our service men and women for his misguided remarks. And, we ask that he and the White House join with us in our efforts to educate Americans of the dangers TBI has on these heroes as they protect our great nation in these trying times. Our warriors require our full support more than ever in this challenging environment." — William “Doc” Schmitz, VFW National Commander.

And as a clinical example of a malignant narcissist, if it didn't affect him, then it doesn't make one damned bit of difference.
