I'm not talking about the occasional conservative ad, which happens to everyone.
I'm seeing a disproportionate number of conservative leaning ads for things like PragerU and even saw an add for some fringe newspaper site that brought up in their ad how they were one of the main "news" organizations to expose what Hillary Clinton did in Benghazi, blah blah blah... (its not Fox News or a traditional newspaper; does anyone know what I'm talking about?) There was another ad I saw yesterday that seemed to be an anti-abortion, anti-planned parenthood type of organization.
I'm not a conspiracy theorist by any stretch, but are people pouring in tons of money to bomb Youtube with conservative ads? I get them even when I'm trying to watch a funny, non-political video.
What's going on?

(51,007 posts)Can you say what the GOP stands for, beyond this lawless president?
The GOP is full of tactical brilliance
and next to no strategic thinkers. Perhaps because this president hates science and everything and everyone else that could stop him or his cronies from stealing from the rest of us?

(23,337 posts)And it works? How does it block the ads on the front end of videos?
crickets
(25,983 posts)You don't have to set it up for YouTube specifically. It handles that as part of the package.
MontanaMama
(23,337 posts)Ill look into it. Thx.

(13,110 posts)I don't know how it works.
I spend a major amount of time on YouTube everyday.
Before I started using AdBlock I saw the ads.
Some gave the option of skipping after 5 seconds.
Now I never see any ads.
MontanaMama
(23,337 posts)after the obligatory 5 seconds. If you miss the window, however, they serve up another ad. Ill look into AdBlock if it really helps. I hate those ads...theyre rwnj ads for the most part.

(6,423 posts)There you have to manually jump ahead in the video.
Other options are downloading YT videos first in full then watching on whatever you want, whenever you want and most video player apps will let you jump to any place in the video you desire.
There are so many different browsers out there for different strokes.

(13,110 posts)What is a embedded video ???
I use Google Chrome on my Dell desk top.
I watch video clips with Stephen Colbert, Seth Meyers, MSNBC, CNN etc.
Brainfodder
(6,423 posts)So even if you download it, the ad is still there, I expect that to be the norm on most videos sooner rather than later?
My cable providers ON-DEMAND is the same, ads are inside all the stream files and they don't let you skip them, small fix on that is remote mute button.

(23,337 posts)and Im watching cooking videos or parrot training courses...benign stuff.

They evolved from a newspaper that promoted a Chinese-Worldwide religious movement with an anti-communist China message into a conservative online news behemoth that loves all that CT RW crap and was known for buying the most ads for
