When all the dust has settled, who now has any gravitas to pick up a conservative banner and create a new party once the orange idiot has beaten the present incarnation of the Republican Party into bloody pulp?

Mitt does. And he knows it. He did this purposely knowing that there’s a tough row to hoe ahead, but if you hoe to the end of the row, you get the rewards.

And I have to give him props for having the integrity to be the only one

THE ONLY ONE

of those soulless bastards in the Republican Party to actually to the right thing here.

...they believe in a God to whom an oath matters.

What I say is: the rest of the Republicans are foresworn, and that used to mean something.

I think he’s sincere. The problem I have is having watched his church shovel their unrelenting, unforgiving, self righteous, people-hurting doctrine, that comes down from their council of 12 down everyone in Utahs throats, believer or not. He doesn’t get separation of church and state. None of them do. Not really. And for that I won’t give him a pass.

My husband just finished it last week and I'm about to begin. Some of the stuff that was news to him was already familiar to me from years at DU, but some of what he repeated to me was new.

Honestly though, having to deal with this in real life, when I do find time to read I like to stick to the classic literature I haven’t gotten to yet, and histories or historical fiction.

Need to escape somewhere!

Until then his symbolic vote will only be used to help get him re-elected and let the GOP continue to hold a majority in the senate.
