EC requires the votes of 290 members of the House, 67 members of the Senate, then must be ratified by the legislatures of 38 states.

for getting rid of the EC through the amendment process.

I'd love to have a primary instead of a caucus, but that is what we have right now in Iowa, so I get involved and work my butt off.

Now, the EC could be made more representative by lifting the cap of 435 on the number of reprsentatives in the house. It was passed in 1929, when our population was much smaller.

So, a new law supercedes the Permanent Apportionment Act of 1929, setting a number of people per congressional district to say the population of the smallest population state.

Then, districts are drawn based on that number and the number of representatives would be much, much larger, but it would also move the EC to a place where it would be much more representative of where people actually live while still giving those in smaller states proportional representation.

In any case, it is a way around the problems of the EC that is possible.

ETA: National vote by mail and auto registration would be great!
