Any business I go in and hear Limbaugh playing, I take my business elsewhere... after telling them why I'm doing it.

Same with a tv playing Fox in a workplace.

Happened to a friend of mine - he never smoked, never lived with anyone who smoked, never spent time in a workplace where people smoked, didn't go to smoky bars, etc. Smoking causes lung cancer, but it isn't the only thing that causes lung cancer.

Anyway, I think Limbaugh used to smoke cigarettes.

I had just gotten into the car and missed the specifics, only that he was going to be out whenever and back when he could, then at the end “pulmonary (something) WITH MALIGNANCY.” I don’t actively wish bad things, but when bad things happen to bad people I think of the others who have suffered the same things, not focusing on *this* person. He said he has a very deep relationship with God, and has “worked this relationship a lot” these past weeks. Well but his God hasn’t worked LIMBOsevic’s insight into goodness for other people or his conscience over the horrid crap he has spread to the country. He was spewing the same hate minutes before the announcement and resumed it after the announcement. And the millions of dollars he has raised for charity proves the doctrine that “Good works don’t Save you.” Even if he has a Lee ATWATER repentance, there’s no reparation for the evil he’s done. Apologies and repentance don’t do anything.

When Laura INGRAHAM converted to Opus Dei type Catholicism, I strained to see in her behavior afterwards any sign of the Imitation of Christ, and have never seen it.

I'd be very happy if Limbaugh lived another 25 years or so, to witness one Democratic victory after another.

If this were to somehow soften him up and make him admit the error of his ways (see Atwater, Lee), even better. I don't think he could ever reverse the damage he's caused, but he could make a tiny teensy difference if he were to speak out against his decades of hate.

https://www.nytimes.com/1991/01/13/us/gravely-ill-atwater-offers-apology.html

"In a detailed and candid article about his career and his fight against an inoperable brain tumor, Lee Atwater has apologized to Michael S. Dukakis for the "naked cruelty" of a remark he made about the Democratic Presidential nominee in the 1988 campaign.

The apology by Mr. Atwater, who is now in his last month as chairman of the Republican National Committee, is included in an article in the February issue of Life magazine, where he also starkly describes his often-desperate attempts to deal with his illness and his fear on some nights that if he falls asleep, "I will never wake up again."

As manager of Mr. Bush's campaign, Mr. Atwater succeeded in making the case of Willie Horton, a convicted murderer, an issue against Mr. Dukakis.

Mr. Horton, who is black, raped a white woman and stabbed her husband while on a weekend furlough from a Massachusetts prison. The Bush campaign used the case to portray Mr. Dukakis, then Governor of Massachusetts, as a liberal who was soft on crime.
.... "After the election, when I would run into Ron Brown, I would say hello and then pass him off to one of my aides," he said. "I actually thought that talking to him would make me appear vulnerable.

"Since my illness, Ron has been enormously kind -- he sent a baby present to Sally T.," Mr. Atwater's third child, who was born only weeks after he was stricken. "He writes and calls regularly -- and I have learned a lesson: Politics and human relationships are separate. I may disagree with Ron Brown's message, but I can love him as a man."....(more)

EDIT

In the article Atwater apologized to Michael Dukakis for the "naked cruelty" of the 1988 presidential election campaign.[27][28]

Ed Rollins stated in the 2008 documentary Boogie Man: The Lee Atwater Story:

[Atwater] was telling this story about how a Living Bible was what was giving him faith and I said to Mary [Matalin], "I really, sincerely hope that he found peace". She said, "Ed, when we were cleaning up his things afterwards, the Bible was still wrapped in the cellophane and had never been taken out of the package", which just told you everything there was. He was spinning right to the end.[15]

78. when gravely ill, Lee Atwater began apologizing for ugly political tactics (Willie Horton ad)
Mon Feb 3, 2020, 04:45 PM
Feb 2020

In a detailed and candid article about his career and his fight against an inoperable brain tumor, Lee Atwater has apologized to Michael S.

"In 1988," Mr. Atwater said, "fighting Dukakis, I said that I 'would strip the bark off the little bastard' and 'make Willie Horton his running mate.' I am sorry for both statements: the first for its naked cruelty, the second because it makes me sound racist, which I am not." Reputation as 'Ugly Campaigner'

Since being stricken last year, the 39-year-old Mr. Atwater has apologized on several occasions for many of the campaign tactics he once employed and for which he was criticized. But rarely has he spoken in such detail or with such candor as in the interview for the first-person Life article.

There’s probably more to it, but I haven’t had a chance to click on any links to get details. It was a short commercial break. Well, it was short in terms of trying to gather information. As others have said, wishing harm on another person is a dark process and one that I think is natural when someone is seen to be destructive, but then you are also engaging in that destructiveness.

I don't know Limbaugh personally. I know of his character on the radio and of the effect his career has had on political discussion. I do know people who have had cancer and it is a horrible way to die.

So I am going to say the same as others. I do not wish harm on Limbaugh and I wish his family and friends the best in this process.

I will say honestly, that I will not miss in the slightest, his absence from the world of political discussion.

Someone will step up to claim his spot atop the right wing political heap, most likely Hannity, who is likely now second in the right wing radio world.

I have never been a listener of Limbaugh. He owns a great deal of responsibility for the divisiveness in our political discourse.

Having said that I do wish him the best in the new reality he lives in now. Cancer (period) is a vicious and horrible disease. Most organisms on this planet take only what they need of their host in order to flourish and survive. Cancer doesn’t, it destroys everything...even what it needs to survive, it is a malicious branch in the tree of evolution. I would not wish it upon anyone.

He is without honor of any sort. He inspired others to act with equal dishonor. For decades, he served a daily portion of hatred and disinformation packed in outrage (real or theatrical, doesn’t matter). There is no single positive word to speak about his character, his life’s work, or his legacy.

I wish pain and death upon no one. I sincerely believe in humanity’s interconnectedness and in having compassion for all living things. But as I search my heart, I find that I will not miss this man’s existence, whenever it comes to that.
