What everyone missed from last night

The Con was forced to remove the vindication ads - he is still impeached - if he shows up at the SOU tomorrow night, he still won't have been acquitted and even if his goons don't vote to remove him on Wednesday, it's still all downhill from here.

That was a major victory.

Interestingly and frighteningly enough, George Orwell did NOT say this:

"Just remember what you’re seeing and what you're reading is not what’s happening."

-President Trump did.

George Orwell, however, did say this:

“The party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.” -1984 by George Orwell

Notice any similarities? (I'm kidding. Of course y'all noticed the similarities -- but Trump's people would not, or they'd say, "Yeah, that second quote has _______ (fill in the blank: Obama, Biden, Schiff, Clinton, etc., etc.) written all over it. And the first quote is just pure wisdom from the Chosen One." Yes, they would. They'd say that and believe it from the gnarly black chest holes where their hearts used to be.)

Pelosi, "You cannot be acquitted if you don't have a trial," she added.

Pelosi says Trump's acquittal won't be legitimate without witnesses

https://www.nytimes.com/live/2020/trump-impeachment-trial-01-30#pelosi-says-trumps-acquittal-wont-be-legitimate-without-witnesses

Pelosi says Trump’s acquittal won’t be legitimate without witnesses.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi of California said on Thursday that regardless of the outcome of his impeachment trial, if the Senate refuses to call new witnesses or subpoena more documents, President Trump’s acquittal will not be legitimate.

“He will not be acquitted,” Ms. Pelosi told reporters at her weekly news conference, when asked whether the president is likely to be chastened or emboldened by the all but certain verdict in his favor, which could come as early as Friday.

“You cannot be acquitted if you don’t have a trial,” she added. “You don’t have a trial if you don’t have witnesses and documentation and all of that,” she said.

“The fate of our nation is riding on how this is resolved,” Ms. Pelosi said. “It isn’t about just one person. It’s about the precedent that it sets for the future.”

“The Russians are coming, the Russians are coming,” Ms. Pelosi warned. “And the president has led a clear path for them to interfere, once again, in our elections, as they are currently doing.”

“I just pray that the senators will have the courage, and the ability, to handle the truth,” she added.

It was not the first bid by Ms. Pelosi to ensure that regardless of the outcome of the Senate trial, the public does not see an acquittal as an exoneration.

“This president is impeached for life, regardless of any gamesmanship on the part of Mitch McConnell,” she told ABC News this month. “He will be impeached forever.”

Thanx to DUer Dalton for posting this yesterday.

Mon Feb 3, 2020, 10:38 AM
Feb 2020

The problem is no one wants to push the message that his trial was fixed. There was no sense of justice, he did not get a fair trial. There was no evidence, no witnesses, therefore no trial and the acquittal is a sham. WE CANNOT LET TRUMP SHAPE THE MESSAGE ON FOXNEWS AND TWITTER. They are already working on this. The spin is more important than the facts. If the republicans can spin this on foxnews and twitter that trump was railroaded and falsely accused, they win in the arena of public opinion. That's all trump cares about. We cannot just move on, we have to keep pushing the evidence, the witnesses, the facts. The CEOs of the major networks are already telling their people to "move on...; it's old news..", while trump and his toodies will still be pushing "exoneration" on foxnews, twitter, and talk radio.

The Senate trial doesn't assess guilt or levy fines or punishment, it is a process to remove or retain someone for whom sufficient evidence of guilt already exists.

We need to hammer this home, the House already found sufficient proof of his guilt. The Senate simply failed to remove him over it on purely partisan grounds.

the Con has remaining.

His legacy is, to be considered the worst, by far, president of these United States of America.

As long as humans write and read history, this fact will be true for all to learn.

The only shame will be, that those learning about him 50, 100, 1000 years hence, will not have a comprehensive feeling for just how despised he was at this time.

Down with the con, down for all eternity.
