(86,647 posts)I was one of the first day impeachment crowd. And I'm never going to waver from that position.

(7,621 posts)I don't care if he met the age and citizenship requirements in the Constitution--his utter lack of past government experience made him unqualified to be POTUS. This Mike Luckovich cartoon which shows the utter stupidity of Trump ever being a serious candidate has always been a favorite of mine.

(1,850 posts)It's been clear from day one that he was in blatant violation of the emoluments clause with the Washington DC hotel.
If a dem had done this, they'd have been removed within a month.
you posted this as I was typing mine!

(51,611 posts)Even back then I said Pence would be better. I really thought the Russia help would have been the reason but then the GOP House fell in line instantly with the GOP Senate not far behind.

It might have been completely different outcome if trump was like one year in. Or better yet 2.5 years in. Less of Pence and plenty if time to find an opponent.
The Wielding Truth
(11,415 posts)He was a proven cheat, fraudster of low character whose life was immoral and devious before he ran. As a candidate he was unfit for any governmental office. He has shown himself to be no better as President. He has been recently ruled unfit to be involved on the board of any charity and has committed illegal and impeachable acts against his office by extorting a country at war with our adversary for his own personal gain. It is true that we didn't want him to make decisions for our country and we still don't. He should not be our President.

Day one, day two, day three etc
Every single day he abused his power of office for self interest in ways that we know and in ways we do not yet know, but are finding out....

Under The Radar
(3,404 posts)The day that Manifort resigned because of Russian suspicions, without so much as a goodbye statement, i knew dirt had gone under the rug.
So that was 150 days and some change before day one.

(42,770 posts)Dem support in House to even get close to having enough. Funny thing, though, you look back and that was when Trump's approvals we're lowest! In the 30s. Prime time. I also think it's funny that even THEY thought it was over when he fired Comey. Crickets

(854 posts)Out of what, 16 or so potential candidates, this was the guy they picked? And when all the negative nellies from that side all of a sudden turned into toady bootlickers? This nomination was eff'ed up from the get go. There was something screwy that that happened at all. I can't say that I've spent much thought on this till now and we'll likely never know, but did he somehow manage to corrupt their nomination process? He was so out to lunch and over the top from the beginning, how did he manage to come out as the winner? How did a whole party get suckered by this lunatic? And why do they continue to kiss his "majestic' butt and disavow anything they, previously at least, gave lip service too, like national security. This complete kowtowing to this guy about everything one used to be fairly sure they would stand behind is bewildering at best. Power? Compromat? In retrospect it makes you wonder. I keep hearing that he didn't expect to win, but given his (and their) lying ways, can you trust anything they say? I certainly don't. I'm not gonna start with conspiracy theories, but to me, there is something fishy with how this maroon ended up on top to begin with, particularly given how he was initially so negatively received by the party apparatus in general and had never, other than his crazy conspiracy theory krap, ever had any seeming affiliation with the Republican party. It's not like he was a past major donor or anything (that I'm aware of anyway) - this putz wouldn't give money to anyone but himself. And they could have easily removed this pain in their ass and put Pence, another nutso, in place and still continued with their loading the courts, gutting regs and so on and so forth, and never skipped a beat. In retrospect, to me, there was/is something very weird going on here.
