(15,327 posts)I do not think Democrats will ever be so partisan and tribal as current Republicans when it comes to overlooking blatantly obvious failings of a Democratic president.
And I'm quite sure Republicans will practice shameless hypocrisy effortlessly, and will hold Democratic presidents to a much, much, much higher standard than they hold Trump.

(15,327 posts)...a Republican majority isn't needed for a Republican president to get away with this shit. Democrats in the majority, of course, would have meant witnesses and documents, perhaps making it more painful for Republicans to "hear no evil, see no evil", but unless Republicans are ever a small minority, they can still be effectively very permissive with Republican presidents.
