Here's the thread: https://www.democraticunderground.com/100212944917
On Monday, I'll start a thread where people can report on each senator's reasons for their vote. I can't watch wall to wall, so I'm hoping people will report on various senators in that thread. In preparation, I need to come up with categories that would work in a spread sheet. Here's what I've got so far. Any senator might fall in more than one category. Can you suggest other categories?
Nays
He was wrong, but it didn't rise to impeachable (Alexander).
He was wrong, but it's not worth it to prolong the trial when the conclusion is known (Murkowski).
He cared about general corruption in Ukraine. He did nothing wrong.
The House process was flawed because they didn't go to court.
Yeas
Emphasis on article 1, abuse of power.
Emphasis on article 2, obstruction of congress.

Be sure to read the responses. They are uniformly disgusted with Rubio's and the other Republican senators' cowardice.

___
Do you want to use a particular format in the subject line and body of posts?
Like a summary in the subject:
Name - guilty, but; not impeachable; futile; corruption; process.
Then, any notes or context in the body?
___
Senators probably will have more than one reason or excuse. For instance, heres a possible additional one under nays: He did wrong, but let the people decide - as was alexanders feigned naivety about the distinct likelihood of tRump cheating to get re-elected by inviting foreign influence, etc. Is such a stupid remedy for the pResidents misdeeds, and Im curious as to what rate the republicons will point to this crap as somehow logical or ethical.

I can work with whatever, but I think just the name of the senator in the subject would work best.
"Name - guilty, but; not impeachable; futile; corruption; process."
Once I gather any categories that people submit here, I'll number them and ask people to list the numbers that apply to each senator. And to describe a new category if one comes up, with the next available number.
Does this sound like it will work?

Gonna need a baseline for their claims now vs. later when regrets set-in.
